Lauren + Charles
October 15th 2016 has forever changed my thoughts on a stormy wedding day. Lauren and Charles knew when they picked this date in Seattle, it could rain, it could be cold, it could be windy. What they didn't know was that it would be the stormiest day of the year, affectionately called Stormageddon 2016. And what none of knew was how the storm would play out for this special wedding - a church that looked even more romantic as the candles glowed beneath a gray sky, guests who sat a little closer enjoying the cozy feel of this fall day, a stunning bride (wearing an Oscar de la Renta gown from the designer's last collection) and the most spectacular photos (by the ever-talented Kate Price) as our reception looked out onto a white-capped Lake Washington. The threat of losing power was no match for this stunning day!
We started our day at St. Joseph Church on Seattle's Capitol Hill. The church was filled with sounds of joy as their ceremony was set to a brass quintet (Seattle Brass) an organist, and the most special, Charles' sister who played the cello.
The celebration didn't stop there, while Lauren and Charles braved the elements for pictures, guests made their way to the Seattle Tennis Club where they were treated to trays of bubbles, before enjoying a food station-esque dinner the bride and groom had thoughtfully selected.
As dinner concluded Lauren and Charles took the dance floor for their first dance, from where I am not sure they ever left! The Nines kept everyone moving for the next 3 (yes, 3!) hours! Some of the highlights included, Charles and his mom dancing to 'Shake it Off,' Charles' grandmother winning over the entire room with her moves to the YMCA, and always a fun tribute, the appearance of Lauren & Charles' College Flags!
Although our time at the Tennis Club sadly came to an end, the party continued as guests poured into local haunt - The Attic in Madison Park. It was a special treat for me to see Lauren post wedding surrounded by friends and family, still glowing from the day hours later. Stormageddon - you made for a perfect day, the best close to a memorable wedding season in Seattle. Lauren and Charles - thank you for allowing me to be a part of your celebration!
