Lu + Alex
Lu and Alex both had great ideas for how they wanted their wedding to be, and I was very excited to help them bring their vision to life. They wanted to include a lot of traditional Chinese elements into their wedding, which was so exciting! Oh Miss Chic even went as far as to decorate their getting ready space with exotic flowers and Chinese characters.
We began the festivities with bridesmaids door games. Everyone was having a blast even before the ceremony began. After their American ceremony, they went straight into the bouquet toss, The crowd went wild for it! Then the bride a groom stayed at the ceremony site and took pictures with all their guests.
After pictures, all the guests were invited to join cocktail hour where they snacked on appetizers from City Catering and sipped on wine from JM Cellars. While the bride and groom went upstairs to change into traditional Chinese wedding outfits we prepared the tea ceremony. A Chinese tea ceremony is one of the most important parts of the entire event. It’s called “jing cha” in Chinese, literally meaning, “to respectfully offer tea.” It includes a formal introduction of the bride and groom and shows deep respect to the couple’s family. It is at this point during the day that the two families consider themselves related and from that moment forward, the couple will begin calling their in-laws “Mom and Dad.”
After the tea ceremony concluded, the guests began to enjoy a dinner of beef, chicken and delicious sides by City Catering. While guests finished up their meals, the newly married couple went around to each table to toast with everyone. It was at this point that Lu and Alex decided to add a twist to the traditional toasting; trivia! After the toast, each table must answer one trivia question about the bride and groom. Needless to say, this had everyone laughing and cheering! After dinner, all the partiers moved to the dance floor for one of the most spirited dance parties I’ve ever seen!
Planning and coordinating this event with Lu and Alex was an absolute joy. Congratulations to Lu, Alex and their families!
XOXO, Ivy
