Kalyn + Gustavo

Kalyn and Gustavo cerebrated their wedding day at the beautiful Fremont Foundry in Seattle on a gorgeous, sunny day. Sublime Stems came in and decorated the space using tropical flowers and greens to bring in Gustavo’s home country of Brazil. The ceremony was officiated by a family member who spoke both English and Portuguese so she was able to translate the most important parts to their Brazilian guests.

For cocktail hour, guests enjoyed oysters and snacks from Lisa Dupar Catering on the roof of the Foundry. When dinner time approached, the guests made their way down to the bottom floor and were greeted by more stunning decor from Sublime Stems and Crimson Haze lighting. The Shutterbus was also on site beckoning guests and getting them excited for the reception.

After dinner concluded the dance party could begin with Legato Productions. The bride’s family brought in homemade fudge and fresh strawberries to go with and the groom’s family brought in a traditional Brazilian dessert called Bem Casados. The term Bem Casado means “happily married” in Portuguese. Tradition states that these cookies represent the couple’s love and commitment.  Each guest is offered a Bem Casado so they can be blessed with the same love and happiness the bride and groom share.  Some say, you should make a wish before you take the first bite!

During the dance party I helped the bride and groom execute a flawless bouquet toss, and a whisky box toss. Imagine a traditional garter toss, but the garter is secured around an empty whisky box, the box is thrown into the crowd of single men and whomever catches the box, gets the bottle of whisky!

Everyone had a blast at their reception,  dancing, singing, taking photos and showing love to the bride and groom. It was a magical all around! Congratulations to Kalyn, Gustavo, and their wonderful families!

XOXO, Ivy
