Soumya + Hans
I’ve been part of many multi-cultural weddings in my day, but nothing will ever compare to the electricity from Soumya + Han’s wedding weekend. Early on in planning, we established that an important detail was to create a fusion of their backgrounds — Soumya from India and Hans from New Orleans. With both of these cultures placing a high priority on colorful celebrations and high energy events, I couldn’t wait to find unique ways to integrate both styles into one cohesive wedding weekend.
First up was the Sangeet, held at a family friend's home on Cozy Cove. We decided to incorporate a tropical theme into the joyous occasion of family and friends celebrating with henna, choreographed dances and more. The next day, we began prep at Olympic Sculpture Park for the ceremony + reception with stunning florals and bright colors at the forefront of the day.
By far one of the coolest moments of the weekend was their second line baraat, which included the traditional parading of the groom, but in a New Orleans second line fashion complete with a full jazz band. It felt like our own mini Mardi Gras party in the streets of Seattle! Once the wedding party had made their way to the ceremony site, the stage was set for Soumya and Hans to officially tie the knot.
There is something so special about non traditional bridal marches, so when Soumya walked down the aisle to "Walking on Sunshine" in her stunning peach saree accompanied by both of her parents with the sun peaking out I knew this couple's future was bright.
Guests ended the night inside for a formal reception complete with dancing, toasts, and celebrations for the newlyweds. It was the picture perfect end to months of our planning together. Congratulations once again to Soumya + Hans! What an amazing weekend it turned out to be and an event I will never forget!
