Pantone Color of the Year 2015

Every year PANTONE releases its color of the year, a hue that influences fashion, art and design for the following 12 months.  Last year’s RADIANT ORCHID was one of my all time favorite tones (its in my wardrobe, my home, my own wedding…..) and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with another bold berry tone.

The color aficionados recently announced Marsala as their 2015 pick. In a company press release, Pantone described the color as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red.” While last year’s color of the year, Radiant Orchid, “encouraged creativity and innovation, Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

“Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors,” Pantone announced.

While it seems that this color hasn’t been getting the best reviews, I have to say…I love it and have my fingers crossed that an upcoming client will let me get creative with it!
