Catherine + Drew: Engaged!
If you know Catherine, you instantly love her. She is sweet, sassy and 100% California cool. Catherine is a much loved senior member of our planning team and as creative and talented as she is fun to be around. I cannot begin to tell you how much I adore her. When her long time boyfriend, Drew, contacted me out of the blue to help plan a perfect proposal, I couldn’t have been more excited and honored to be a part of it all!
Drew wanted to keep the actual proposal pretty low key and planned to get down on one knee in their super cozy backyard. While Catherine knew that a proposal was on the horizon, he was still able to surprise her! Not an easy feat with this gal, and she didn’t even realize a photographer captured it all until hours later!
Soon after, Drew told Catherine that he planned a date night for them and to get dressed for a dinner out. Mid-COVID, a dinner out is a big deal. However, the big surprise really came when she walked into Coopers Hall and 12 of her nearest and dearest were all there to celebrate (with matching masks from Mop Head Shop and all). Her parents, with whom she is super close and had just visited the weekend before, and best friend travelled up from California. Again…a big deal mid-COVID. She. Was. Floored (grab a tissue).
The happy couple enjoyed their favorite margaritas with custom ice cubes by PDX Ice while spilling all the juicy proposal details. Once the initial shock wore off, and everyone’s nervous energy died down, guests were seated in household groups and welcomed to their table by custom place cards and menus by Crave Design. Amy from Brier + Ivy, who has a big fan in Catherine, designed beautiful florals in tones of ecru, olive, grey plum and oxblood to fit our overall aesthetic. Party Place provided chic black silverware and smoke stoneware china that complimented our design. The fab mid century chairs came from Bridgewood and were the perfect addition to the wood tables at Coopers Hall. It wouldn’t be an event for Catherine without chic signage, and Hey Halle absolutely delivered!
With full hearts and bellies, the couple’s friends and family each took a turn to give a heartwarming toast (there wasn’t a dry eye!). Soon after, a personal chocolate raspberry and ganache cake adorned with C+D by Dream Cakes was enjoyed by all.
Before heading home, guests snagged a growler to fill with their favorite wine and candle courtesy of Floradee and the whole event was captured by Brigit Cheshire!
A perfect night, for the perfect couple. Catherine + Drew, I could not possibly be more happy and excited for you both. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!!
