Bridal Show Survival
Wedding show season is here and we are so lucky in Oregon to have a large variety of great shows. While the shows are super helpful they can also be a little overwhelming. So, here are a few tips to help you prepare for the show and make the most out of your time.
Bring a friend- it is important to bring a friend, bridesmaid, mom or someone who can help you navigate through the show. They will be a great soundboard and able to soak up information from vendors too. That being said…don’t bring too many friends or the different opinions can be overwhelming as well.
Take Notes- bring your phone or couple of pens and a pad of paper. Take notes about the various vendors you like. At the end of the day it can all seem like a blur, so your notes will be very helpful when going back through everything.
Collect- collect goodie bags, business cards and handouts from vendors that stick out to you. These will come in very handy and you will be able to cross-reference your notes (see above). The business cards and handouts will allow you to have important vendor’s contact information at your fingertips. Some vendors will offer bridal show specials so make sure to take anything they are passing out in the off chance you have some a little money. It is helpful to bring labels with your names, contact info and wedding date so you do not waste time filling out paperwork at different booths.
Photographers- talk with photographers as they get booked up quickly, so it is important to talk with them and take notes about who you like best. Ask questions about their communication, style, pricing. If you are sold on a certain company or person, don’t be afraid to book them at the show (with your planner’s blessing!).
Checkbook/Credit Cards- some vendors will accept deposits at bridal shows. If you end up loving a vendor and you are ready to book, do it.
