Sasha + Jahan

Sasha & Jahan had a beautiful Persian wedding at WAVERLEY COUNTRY CLUB last September. They planned their event from California and worked with KATY and EMILY to fine tune all the details. We absolutely love infusing culture, family traditions and personalty into weddings. Congrats Sasha & Jahan!

A traditional Persian wedding ceremony, or Aghd, involves a spread known as the Sofreh. This Sofreh is filled with eggs, sweets, nuts, and several other items that each represent a wish for the couple. Eggs for fertility, desserts for a sweet life and so on. I love all the symbolism–so meaningful! Part of the wedding ceremony involves all of the happily married women in the room holding a beautiful cloth over the couple’s heads. They then rub large sugar cubes together above the bride and groom to shower their marriage with blessings. The ceremony ends with the bride and groom feeding each other sweet honey with their pinkies.
