2012 Wedding Trends

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

I have been dying to post about 2012 wedding trends all month but have been waiting for my live segment on MORE Good Day Oregon to air!  Check out the clip below to learn about what I think the biggest trends are going to be for this next season.  My favorite is the return to formality! I think Black Tie weddings are so much fun and guests really love the opportunity to really get dolled up.  What is your favorite??

A big thanks to Hailey at Zest for the GORGEOUS bouquet.  It smelled just as good as it looked!!!

New Venue Alert: Imago Ballroom!

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

This past week I had the opportunity to attend an open house for a brand new event space in Portland called Imago Ballroom.   The space is run by VT Group and is really a unique venue in a great location.

Found off SE 8th & Burnside (right behind Le Pigeon), the Ballroom is newly renovated and boasts beautiful hardwood floors, 25 foot ceilings, 18 foot windows,  a great bridal suite upstairs where the girls can actually watch guests as they arrive, and even an elevated stage.  Image Ballroom can accommodate up to 250 guests (without a dance floor and tables of 10).    You also have the option of using an attached Theater for the ceremony as an add-on.   The colors are quite neutral so it is really a blank canvas.  My favorite features are the black chivari chairs and up-lighting included in the space rental!

The venue allows to choose one of three caterers which are all run by VT Group:  Vibrant Table, Food in Bloom and F&B Cafe Catering.

Some basic info for you on what is included:

9am-2am Rental

Bridal Salon & Groom’s Area

Column Up-Lighting

18-car VIP Reserved Parking Lot

175 Black Chivari Chairs

A limited number of tables

Note–the venue does not have an elevator.

Pricing runs $2250 for a Saturday, $2350 for a Friday or Sunday rental.

Adding on the Theater runs $2300 for Saturdays and $2000 for Fridays or Sundays.

I’m excited to plan an event at this new space—there aren’t many close-in options in the SE area!

Oregon Bride Feature #1, Kim & Matt!

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

The newest issue of Oregon Bride Magazine was released last Saturday and I am thrilled to share that four Bridal Bliss weddings are featured!!  The first was the amazing “country chic” wedding of Kimberly Maus & Matt Weishoff.  Kim is a news anchor at KPTV and I met her while at the studio shooting a segment about wedding planning.  We immediately had a connection and hit the ground running planning her detailed wedding day.

Kim & Matt met at the Pendleton Round Up where Matt was a competitive rodeo bareback rider.  The couple have a love for the Western lifestyle and certainly infused that into their wedding day.

Some of my favorite details were the cap guns that guests shot when the couple was announced as husband and wife, the leather escort cards hand made by the groom himself, the fab bar and the amazing chandelier made of Matt’s old rodeo numbers.

Matt now works as a contractor and put his skills to work for this wedding.  In addition to making the escort cards, bar and chandelier himself, he also crafted several signs (which Kim had adorable sayings for), built ALL the guest tables out of recycled wood, made a mosaic backdrop and even created a darling belt for his wife with her new last name.

After the ceremony, guests were treated to a yummy buffet of comfort food, some serious dancing, shots of Pendleton Whiskey and a gourmet s’mores buffet.

The level of detail at this wedding was crazy.  Kim had the most amazing ideas and worked on so many projects while planning.  The day ran perfectly smoothly, the weather cooperated, guests danced the night away (so many hot cowboys!!) and the bride and groom beamed all night.  I loved getting to know Kim these last several months, and through all of the planning she has become a dear friend.

A Love Letter to 2011

Sunday, January 1st, 2012

As I sit here on New Year’s Day reflecting on the past year, I am overwhelmed with all the wonderful blessings the last 365 days have brought along, both personally and professionally.

Personally, the year had a rough start as we mourned the loss of a dear friend.  However, Tyler and I celebrated five years together and shared some fun trips to locales like Hawaii, San Francisco, New York, Hawaii, St. John USVI, Bahamas, St. Martin and of course one of our favorite places, Black Butte Ranch. We recently bought a new house in Portland and have been busily working on renovations and making it feel like home. Most importantly, our amazing families are happy and healthy, we have the best friends in the world and life truly couldn’t be better.

Bridal Bliss had the busiest year ever with 59 events in 2011!  We were named Portland’s “Best Wedding Planner” and “Best All Around Wedding Vendor” by Oregon Bride Magazine and I was also featured in an amazing new book, Graduate & Go.   Our work was featured in several national publications and blogs including The Wall Street Journal, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style and Style Me Pretty to name a few.   I am continuously overwhelmed and thankful for the great feedback we receive on our events!

What has truly made Bridal Bliss thrive are the amazing women that put their hearts and souls into our events and go out of their way to ensure that every client is nothing less than thrilled. The Bridal Bliss Team is a truly exceptional and FUN group of girls.  Thank you for all your hard work this year ladies!

We’ve had the opportunity to work with some of Portland’s most talented wedding professionals that never cease to amaze me.  From photographers to florists to printers to videographers, we could not be successful without a great group of vendors that treat our clients as their #1 priority and work as a team.  Thanks to all the wonderful wedding professionals out there that go above and beyond for us and for our treasured brides and grooms!

Our clients this year were out-of-this-world amazing, to say the least.  We worked with some of the most BEAUTIFUL girls you have ever seen that were not only sweet, but so fun to get to know.   I am thrilled to make a unique connection with clients that turns into a great friendship after the wedding.

2012 marks our TENTH (!!!) year in business. I still can’t quite believe it has been so long since my first wedding back in 2002!  Our calendar is quickly filling up for next summer and we have some really fabulous weddings on the horizon to look forward to.  I am beyond excited to see what this next year will bring.

Wishing YOU a very happy, healthful, successful and FUN new year!!!
