This morning, KPTV Channel 12 aired a segment about alternatives to a traditional wedding cake on their show, MORE Good Day Oregon. There are so many fun dessert ideas that can be incorporated into weddings that may fit your vibe better than a traditional wedding cake and event reflect your personalities. How cute are these little mini donuts??
Keep in mind, you can always order a beautiful display cake made for your formal cake cutting, and then also arrange for several other options for your guests to choose from. Take a peek at my segment for some fun takes on desserts and dessert buffets for some inspiration. Enjoy!
Big thanks to One Divine Party, Dream Cakes, Messeluna Fine Catering, Pearl Catering, Rosemary Stafford, Papa Haydn and Le Cookie Monkey for their fab contributions!
Every year I have the most amazing opportunity to fly to NYC for Bridal Fashion Week with my mom Anna, owner of Anna’s Bridal Boutique. We are busy pretty much the entire trip going from designer to designer, runway show to runway show and party to party! This year, there were some fun trends that were apparent through several of the designer’s new lines. I will be filming a segment about all this to air on KPTV Channel 12 so I won’t give away everything quite yet.
A huge trend we saw over and over was a remake of Kate Middleton’s wedding gown. Designers everywhere were showing their own version of the dress and it was fun to see sleeves again! Our favorite version was by Paloma Blanca…what do you think?
Spring 2012 will bring a return to color! Many designers threw in splashes of color with shades of blush, light mochas, even some blacks and reds. This sweet dress by Hayley Paige might possibly be most darling cocktail/reception dress EVER! It may also come with pink tips or all black!
One last trend I thought I’d share with you is the return of full lace fitted gowns. This look has been growing in popularity the past few years but it seems to have exploded this season. Every single designer showed a take on this amazing fabric and sillhouette and it was so hard to choose which to order! You will be seeing several at Anna’s Bridal but here was one of my favorites at Jim Hjelm (check out the Say Yes to the Dress gals in the background!).

How amazing are these ruffles? This gown, Mira, is by one of Anna’s Bridal’s newest lines, Modern Trousseau.
Matthew Christopher’s FAB collection.
Stay tuned for another post about the fabulous parties we attended at Bridal Fashion Week!
I remember first meeting Jason, Tai and her mother, Beth several months ago and we all immediately clicked. I absolutely adored working with these three and loved getting to know them. Jason & Tai are HUGE Beaver fans (check out her shoes, his reception tie and the lollipops at the ceremony used to coax the kids down the aisle) and their friends certainly know how to party.
With a gorgeous Catholic ceremony and festive reception at The Foundry dripping in gorgeous flowers and glamorous crystals from Geranium Lake, this wedding was certainly one to remember. There is just something special about Jason and Tai–they complement each other so well and are obviously meant to be. They are salt of the earth, genuinely nice good people with tons of support from their friends and family, and it really showed through at their event. And seriously…how gorgeous does she look in her amazing Marisa gown from Anna’s Bridal?!!?
Jason was really excited to play during the reception with his band, and he had specially written a song for Tai. He knocked it out of the park and there are some darling photos of Tai getting choked up and taking it all in. The couple danced the night away and their guests obviously had a wonderful time with Chad Dowling playing DJ keeping the party going into the wee hours.
Congrats to you Jason & Tai–wishing you all the best of what life has to offer!!
I recently came across a new mode of transportation offered in town known as BrewCycle. It may not be for every bride but definitely for the right couple or the right event. It is basically a bike for fifteen people with a table down the middle and a driver. Speakers are piped in and its really a fun time! BrewCycle specializes in brewery tours but the bike can be rented for showers, Bachelor/Bachelorette parties, or for the wedding day itself!
