Tamara & Davide’s Save The Dates

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

I am having the best time coordinating a September wedding with my couple, Tamara & Davide.  Davide is originally from Rome with a fun loving spirit and great accent and Tamara is the ultimate down to earth, tell it like it is, practical and sophisticated bride.  We had a full day of planning last week with a food tasting, cake tasting, florist meeting and detail meeting all wrapped into one afternoon.  While we were going over details I saw the final product of their save the dates, and they are so great I just had to share them!

You will certainly be seeing images from this wedding in a later post—with all of our plans so far I am sure it will be a wedding that certainly stands out!

Eco-Friendly Wedding Tips

Friday, May 20th, 2011

Yesterday morning I had the opportunity to go in for a live segment on More Good Day Oregon with Stephanie Kralevich at KPTV Channel 12!  We talked about some unique wedding details and how to have an eco-friendly wedding.  Everyone at the studio is always so nice—and Stephanie just happens to be a bride-to-be!  Click here to watch the show.  Big thanks to New & Blue and Crave Design for the cute props.

We were able to get through some fun ideas but ran out of time to talk about everything I had prepared.  Below are a few more way to be a little more eco-conscious when planning your wedding.

When thinking about your flowers, talk with your florist about using local flowers that are in season.  Many growers douse their crops with harmful chemicals which hurt the environment—use a local grower that grows their flowers naturally.  Also, think about using other types of decor for bouquets and centerpieces like broaches or paper flowers.

How cute are these little tree favors from Green World Project?  One of my darling brides from last summer gave these as favors to her guests for them to plant in their own yard.  Love the idea!

Try to have your ceremony and reception in the same place to encourage less transportation and a smaller footprint.  Lastly, one of the best ways to have a green wedding is to stay as local as possible. Anything that gets shipped in for your wedding adds to the energy used. This includes food, guests, flowers, decorations and clothing. The more local goods and services you can take advantage of the better.

Oregon Bride Magazine Photo Shoot

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

This last week we had the honor of putting together a spread for the next issue of Oregon Bride MagazineIn every issue, the magazine has a feature that they call “Unveiled.”  The spread includes fun new wedding ideas all revolving around a specific theme.  The theme we chose is ”Early 90′s Prep”…think clean and tidy stripes, argyles, preppy accessories and wedding details all in rasberries and navies.    All the peices came together so well and I cannot hardly wait to see it all edited together in the magazine.  Below is a sneak peak of the FABULOUS cake made by the amazing Judy Reese from Dream Cakes.  This was taken by my phone…I’m obviously not a photographer!!

The magazine throws a big party every year releasing the Fall/Winter issue.  Stay tuned for details and an invitation to the party!!  Thanks so much to Oregon Bride Magazine for including us in the next issue—we are thrilled!!

Happiness in Hawaii

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

A few years ago I had the pleasure of planning a destination wedding in Hawaii, and what a pleasure it was!  Mikkel & Jeremy lived in Portland at the time and we were actually planning a local wedding until a few months into the process.   The couple scratched our plans and decided they wanted a more intimate experience where they could stay for their honeymoon.   I can think of much rougher places to plan a wedding for than the Big Island!!!

Mikkel & Jeremy wanted to incorporate some Hawaiian elements into the wedding but  the focus was to really make sure their friends and family had a great time.  On the wedding day itself we arranged for live Island ceremony music, leis waiting for guests on their ceremony chairs, a yummy menu featuring fresh local ingredients, a cake made with Lilikoi (a Hawaiian fruit), a fire dancer at the reception and amazing Hawaiian orchids gracing every aspect of the entire event.

The only challenge as a planner was dealing with vendors who were on “Hawaiian Time.”  Thankfully, I learned this early on while coordinating and it wasn’t an issue on the wedding day.   The ceremony was stunning, guests had a wonderful time and we all enjoyed a beautiful sunset!

Happy Bride = Happy Planner

Friday, May 6th, 2011

There is NOTHING more fulfilling as a wedding planner than watching your bride having a great time on her wedding day.  When she loves everything, when the day flows flawlessly, when she is relaxed, when she is truly enjoying herself and celebrating the night away, you know you’ve done a good job.  Below are some of my favorite photos of past happy brides,  a  great reminder of how much I love my job!!
