Kelly was one of those brides that is an absolute dream to work with.  She was super low maintenance and easy going which made planning that much more fun.  Kelly and I were friends back in elementary school and hadn’t seen each other for several years.  Kelly & Mark have such a sweet relationship, impeccable taste and really know how to have a good time.

The wedding was pure elegance—fluffy and textured flowers, an amazing cathedral and ballroom, gorgeous lighting, tones of champagne and fleshy pinks, and a few unexpected details.  The cake was one of my absolute favorites!!

Great couple, great families and great friends.  What a fun wedding to work at!!

Last week I had the fun opportunity to go into the Channel 12 studios and shoot a wedding segment on MORE Better Portland about my favorite wedding blogs.  I absolutely adore going in and chatting with Kim Maus (who’s fabulous wedding I’m planning for this coming September!).   She could not be sweeter and Kim is always so energetic and super into everything wedding.

Nicole & Shawn were married on a rainy November day at Venue Pearl.  We planned their entire wedding in less than four months and created an urban event with a unique Asian flair. 

Nicole loved the look of long banquet style tables but also wanted to add some additional interest and depth to the room.  We worked with the Plum, Apple and Pewter color scheme and incorporated bamboo accents into the cake, place setting and decor details to tie everything together. 

The final result was a warm, intimate atmosphere with bursts of sass.  We brought in warm cider as guests entered the room, colored hanging lanterns over the dance floor, a photo booth with fabulous props, a delicious cheesecake and a dance floor that was packed the entire evening.

Although we didn’t have much time, with great vendors we were able to pull the wedding details together and everything turned out perfect, even with everyone’s busy schedules and busy lives.  Nicole & Shawn are a great couple with an amazingly friendly group of family and close friends.  I had a blast getting to know them and to help meld everyone’s ideas together into one spectacular event.  Congrats!!

This last fall I worked with a great couple, Nicole & Shawn, on a fabulous urban wedding with an Asian accent.  We worked on a design scheme that would make everyone happy—a little dose of plum for Nicole and nothing too girly for Shawn.  Check out our two inspiration boards and I will post photos from this amazing wedding next so you can see how we pulled it all together!
